Namma Karavali salutes Kapil Kundu

Everything is wrong with our people. Unfortunately, film actor’s shit have more value than a man who sacrificed his life trying to fight enemies to save us.

I am talking about Captain Kapil Kundu, son of a widowed mother who kept upto his words “Life must be big, not long”.

Kapil was supposed to come home for his 23rd birthday on February 10 and he did come home. But in a coffin, wrapped in the Tricolour.

I feel instead of drolling on people who do not give a damn about you, care for those who gave their life for you. They have sacrificed their life for your safety.

Off late, a video on actress winking at hero was trending all over on all social media as if it was something new or unusual. But no one cared to spread this sacrifice news of Kapil Kundu.

Kapil Kundu was youngest among three siblings. He had two elder sisters Sonia and Kajal, both married — and a bright and focused student since his childhood.

Captain Kundu had joined the Army after making it through the National Defence Academy (NDA).

Captain Kapil Kundu’s last rites were performed at a park near his home with full military honors. Around 2,000 people attended the funeral.

Goli Baje Recipe

Kudla da Goli Baje Recipe

Goli Baje also known as Magalore Bajji or Mangalore Bonda is a very popular snack in South India. This snack is very soft and best when dipped with coconut chutney.

There are few methods to prepare the goli baje.

So lets check the easy one:

Ingredients

1 cup maida
1/2 Tablespoon rice flour
1 Tablespoon finely chopped Ginger
1 to 2 green chillies, chopped
7 to 8 curry leaves, chopped
2 tablespooons chopped coriander leaves
1 tablespoon grated or finely chopped fresh coconut – Optinal
6 tablespoons sour curd, can also use fresh curd
4 tablespoons water or add as needed
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 tablespoon baking soda
salt as required
oil as required for deep frying

Recipe

Goli Baje Batter:

Mix 1 cup Maida and 1/2 tablespoon rice flour in a bowl.
Add 6 tablespoons sour/fresh curd
Next add 1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger, 7 to 8 curry leaves (chopped), 1 to 2 green chillies (chopped), 1 tablespoon grated or finely chopped fresh coconut and 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves.
Add 1 tablespoon sugar and salt as required
Now mix everything lightly
Ass 4 to 5 tablespoons water in parts
Add 1/4 teaspoon baking soda and mix everything well.
Now cover and keep aside the batter to leaven for 3 hours. You can also reduce the time to 30 minutes or 1 hour, but the batter will not be soft.
In case you find the batter thin, add some 1 to 2 tablespoons more maida. Do not add rice flour as it will make the goli baje hard.

Frying:

Heat oil for deep frying in a vessel or pan with medium flame. When the oil is medium hot, with a spoon or your fingers drop globs of batter in the hot oil. Fry them in medium hot oil.
When one side is light golden turn over the goli baje with a slotted spoon. Keep changing the sides until they are crisp and golden.
Once done, remove the bajjis with a slotted spoon draining excess oil.
Serve them with coconut chutney.

Do startups pay more than established companies ?

I have been researching on this topic for months. What interests me is people expressing their happiness on talking about their pay in startups.

Now startups are the ones who have just stepped into business and are not quite sure whether they will survive or sunk in the battle of business, competition and important customer satisfaction.

Let’s forget about the investors, founders and sharp dressed CEO’s. Today let’s focus on those employees working there.

According to statistics, the employees who work in startups take home better pay than those working in established corporate industry or MNC’s. Why? I honestly dont know. May be startups dont really know how to fix the salary or may be they want to motivate the staff and hire the best by giving what they want. Whatever the reason is many startups employees have confirmed that they earn better than the corporate one’s.

I too started my career with startup and believe me, I used to work for Rs.13000 when I never had any work experience nor had that skillset what professionals do.

To add to the top of that startups offer you better career growth than the established firms. Reason being startups are the one’s who value ideas, creativity and technological advances. The more creative you are the more you walk towards success.

I took time to get in touch with some of our readers and this is what they have to say:

Being in startup company has really helped in shaping myself to the better one. I started as a junior developer. Today I lead a team of junior developers. Plus I have got opportunity to expand my knowledge in the field of web development with new programming languages

    Abhijai, Vual Tech

I really got a wonderful opportunity to begin my career as HR in this organisation. I started as intern. Today I work as HR.

Sapna, Connectia Solutions

Devshe has helped me to know the creative side of me. I am quite surprised how my work gets appreciated in startups than working in corporate industry.

Check out the 5 best bars in Goa

The minute someone tells Goa, the first image that comes to our mind is the Nightlife and exotic beaches and parties.

Goa nightlife is one of the most talked topics. Although being the smallest state of India, Goa has earned this reputation rightfully. However it is difficult to make list of all the bars in Goa, so we made list of Top 5 bars in the state.

So here we are:

CLUB M

The mixologist creates new twists in classic cocktails that are making a comeback – the Caipirinha, Dirty Martini or start sharing with a Mojito Jug or a Cuban Coconut. Dip the straws in together and have a go. So with your mix select a snack of your choice. The pizzas are great – Quatro Fromaggio (mozzarella, gorgonzola, caprini and parmesan) or the Balsamic Chicken (cheesy licking good) or the Indian spiced (chicken tikkas) variety.

The central bar will be having Brazillian bar tenders showcasing latest fairing and juggling techniques. The cocktails here are must try. Bonus point…. If you are music lover, then you are in for a treat. The chefs too put on a great show. Marbela is a place to get both shaken and stirred.

TEASE

This is the high octane bar where Goa’s most imaginative cocktails come alive. You should try Pink Passion (fresh pomegranate, mint, sour mix, grenadine and passion fruit syrup with vodka)… the mix could get you thirsting for more. Or the Breeze of Hawaii (fresh pineapple chunks and ginger muddled and served with old monk rum)… this is not only for monks as this mix could remain unbeaten in the annuals of mixology. And there is no Monkey Business (banana pieces merged in honey, coffee, lime juice and vodka) when this drink is around.

But this bar has the most amazing collection of single malts too. With the warm and casual feeling that this bar exudes, wait for the music to begin as you nibble on spicy Calamari Peri-Peri, or the Chicken Cafreal on the Skewer. The Vegetable Salt Pepper is another hot favorite while the Thai Wok Chicken could tease the juices for another helping. So for spirited at heart, go for mixes or go straight… its bottoms up at Tease.

CAPE TOWN CAFÉ

This is one hell of a place. Cape Town Café in a nutshell is a restaurant, a sports bar, a club serving Goan, Indian, and Continental. It is for the young, the hep, the foodie and the clubbie.

Start with the Crumb Fried Prawns or the Batter Fired Mushrooms. This café is a place for multifaceted fusion, a 3 D style — drink, dine and dance.

CLUB CUBANA

Drive up the winding hill of Arpora overlooking Palms tosca, there is a club, but a night club with a difference. A multi leveled club, the canopied loungers are stark white, fluorescent at night, a jacuzzi tempting to cool off fevered brows, the water leading off to the poolside. There are bars at every level and the cosy dance floor has mirrored pillars reflecting the sway of bodies to the music being played. It is the music that raises the spirit and it is the spirits at the bar that add to you making your own music.

TITO’S

This place is ideal for stress relieving. Instead of the balao, the strobe and disco lights flash in the dark creating an ambience for the 21st century gen next searching for their own particular nirvana. Tito’s Club was born.

With a cover charge one can have unlimited house drinks. There are two soundproofed rooms with attached bars. Order a Devil’s Fizz or go High Voltage (names of cocktails) with the music. On weekends, you can see long queues waiting to get in with music and spirits imbibed till the wee hours of the next morning. Adjacent to Tito’s courtyard, the alfresco dining place, and to Mambo’s Café which caters to the hunger pangs, the dreams of founder Mr Tito Henry De Souza is a legacy that is carried on.

Get 100MB data for Rs 9

Off late, I have seen many network companies competing with each other to reach the maximum number of customers in their pocket.

As usual I caught up with my friends for weekend and we had a really good discussion on this crazy new offer.

Apparently I heard that Airtel has introduced Rs 9 plan for the prepaid users with a validity of only 1 day. Airtel’s Rs 9 plan is available in all operating circles. The plan can be purchased from company’s website or MyAirtel app. The plan can be bought in case you run out of your data or voice calling limit and require a 1-day recharge immediately.

As we digged deeper, we realised that Airtel was trying to compete with Jio who also offers 1 day validity for Rs 19.

However, two plans compete with each other very closely but Jio has an upper hand here because it comes with a longer period of validity.

Five Body Language Tips for Success

Have you ever been attracted to someone who when walks boost up energy in yourself. Well that is the body language of that person that is attracting you to do more.

Body language is a primary factor in making a strong first impression. The aim is to be perceived as relaxed, confident, and comfortable.

Here are five specific techniques you can implement, starting today, to take your professionalism to the next level.

Mind your tone

You need not have a loud tone to get work done or have command on people. People who put out the right kind of sounds — below the range of conscious human hearing – become the leaders of most groups. Simply put, lower, richer tones are more pleasing to us than higher ones. Want a quick fix? Take a deep breath before speaking so you nervously don’t let out anything too high-pitched. A thin, nasal voice is less appealing to us than a rich, resonant one.

Smile with purpose

When you smile, people treat you differently. You’re viewed as attractive, reliable, relaxed and sincere. Smiling too frequently might give off the wrong impression. Smile with purpose. Leaders might want to dial down their display of happiness so they don’t seem exploitable or ineffective.

Take on a powerful pose

According to research, standing or sitting a certain way triggers immediate changes in your body chemistry. This not only makes you appear more confident, but it can also make you more or less successful with how you do your job and how others respond to you.

Make Eye Contact, But Not Too Much

There is such a thing as too much eye contact. You don’t want to be rude, but you also want to look like you care. So what’s the right balance? As a general rule, direct eye contact 30-60% of the time during a conversation should make for a comfortable, productive atmosphere. Always make sure to use more eye contact when you are listening than when you are speaking.

Use Your Hands to Improve Speech

If you want to get your point across more effectively, try incorporating some hand gestures while you speak. Speech-associated gestures have been found to improve listener comprehension, suggesting that they are meaningful to listeners. Not only will talking with your hands help you remember more, it also keeps the listener engaged.

Samsung will be having upgrade in their model. Reportedly they will be featuring 3D emoji and stereo speakers in Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.

This Valentine, gift her freedom

These days all we can hear is girl being molested in almost every places. It is like a girl cannot walk out of her house alone because she has a fear of being raped or at least being molested.

Often we hear people blaming girls for rape on her. It is really sickening to hear when few educated people blame the shortness of girls cloth for rape on her.

Also to the top of that, girls are taken away from the freedom of roaming with people they want either in the name of religion or in name of gender calling her characterless.

Now to put stop on all that, people of Mangaluru have come forward and are raising their voices on February 14th near Light House Hill Road.

A group of youngsters have decided to stand up for women and her modesty. A protest march will be held against Molestation and Moral Policing on girls.

Raise your voice and be part of this cause as today some girl born to someone else might suffer tomorrow it could be a lady from your house.
